How to Increase Productivity In Your Personal & Professional Life Using Essential Oils

Essential oils have become a part of conversations between family and friends. However, even then, it is a very misunderstood subject. When people mention essential oils, they believe it’s just an aroma that is captivating. Although true, there are more benefits to an essential oil.An essential oil is a concentrated liquid that contains a plant’s chemical properties. It is called “essential” because it contains the ‘essence of’ the plant’s fragrance and aroma. These compounds are extracted by crushing and distilling the plant and then combining them with a carrier oil to preserve for use. A carrier oil is used to dilute essential oils and absolutes (absolutes are used in perfumes and other fragranced products) before they are applied to the skin.Examples of carrier oils are: almond, jojoba, coconut, avocado, etc.NOTE: Not all essential oils are diluted. Essential oils should be labeled if you could use them neat or if they need dilution. The essential oils I use are either labeled or information is provided by the company itself on how to correctly use them.As defined by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy, Aromatherapy is the art of utilizing extracted aroma from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of mind, body, and spirit.

How to Increase Productivity In Your Personal & Professional Life Using Essential Oils?

Just like antibiotics and other prescribed or non-prescribed medications, you can have (or develop) a reaction to an essential oil. So it is advisable to know your body and be prepared just in case. FYI – if you develop a rash/allergic reaction, discontinue use and visit a doctor. *You can also try applying a carrier oil if minor, and/or apply Lavender essential oil. If you feel a burning sensation, you either used too much or applied an oil that was not labeled to apply neat.NOTE: Diluting an essential oil does not take away from its benefits.Citrus oils contain photosensitive compounds, so it’s important to avoid the sunlight, sunlamps, and other sources of UV light. *Different times for different kinds.Essential oils are very potent, so a little goes a long way. If no ‘recipe’ (also called a “blend”) is known, use 1-2 drops. Essential oils can be used topically, internally and aromatically. REMEMBER, not all essential oils are to be used internally. When in doubt, do your own research and/or ask someone who has experience. For personal benefits, you can use essential oils to help with any ailments you may have. *In no way is this claiming they cure anything or everything. You can, however, use them to boost your moods; studies show certain aromas help stabilize your mood.Benefits shared in personal use can be carried over into a professional setting. Trust me, it’s better than smelling a strong perfume or cologne. Most of which are just full of chemicals, like alcohol.Essential oils help stabilize the atmosphere in your home and can do the same in a work setting. They are currently even used by teachers in their classrooms. If you’re new to essential oils or even have experience with them, REMEMBER that you don’t need to know everything. Essential oils are a gift from the earth, enjoy it… don’t let it be a contest of who knows best.
