For those who know me, also know that my partner’s my biggest inspiration. One of his favourite quote is – Either you control the environment or let the environment control you.
So many times we get bogged down by our environment that not only do we loose the inspiration to do something, we sometimes talk ourselves out of going after our goals.
Here are a few ways I keep myself inspired on daily basis –
- Go For Walks
Walks are a great way to get away from the laptop and get your daily intake of physical activity. Staying fit not only helps you be active but also allows you to push yourself in all areas of life. Staying fit also means happy body and happy thoughts and we all know, happy thoughts can bring out some awesome ideas. I prefer to leave my phone when I go for walks, so I’m tech free and more in connection with the nature.
Whether you like mystery novels or self development books, autobiographies or literature, reading is a great way to get your creative juices flowing. You don’t always have to read self development or business books, you can always wander off to whatever grabs your attention. The purpose is to read.
- Pamper Yourself and Celebrate
It is very important to pamper yourself and celebrate. Pampering gets your creative juices flowing. I generally like to pamper myself with a manicure or a pedicure or may be a nice relaxation massage that leaves me feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and stree-free. Celebrating your success on the other hand, gives you the motivation you need to achieve your next goal.
- Listen to Music
If I’m not working, I’m listening to music. From Beyonce to Taylor Swift to Backstreet Boys, I have it all on my iPod. I love listening to music. There’s something for each mood – when I’m happy, when I feel uninspired, or when I’m highly motivated to trying to calm myself down.
We all have heard the saying – all work, no play, makes jack a dull boy!! When working from home, it is important to create a balance between work and personal life. Being a seller on eBay, working from Aussie and selling in US, I know there are times when I get sales post dinner or before sleeping. That does not mean I jump on my laptop to place an order. I let them be and cater to them the next day. You’ve got to unplug and spend time with family and friends.
I always make sure I switch off my laptop before my husband’s home. There will be times when I’ll have things left from the day, I tend to them either before dinner or leave them up for the next day. Evenings are for family and relaxing.
I also make sure I take a day off, either Wednesday or Friday and go out without my laptop. I might take a book along or my iPad so I can relax and rejuvenate myself.
